Have you considered being replaced by artificial intelligence? My guess is probably not. As psychiatrists, we possess a unique skill set that allows us to connect with our patients using empathy, compassion and clinical expertise. We build therapeutic rapport, working to master the human psyche in efforts to \u201cpromote the highest-quality care for individuals and their families\u201d (APA Mission Statement). The essence of psychiatry is the therapeutic alliance; a uniquely human experience. Or, is it? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming this Spring, the Psychiatric Society of Virginia plans to explore the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in psychiatry. We will be embarking on a journey to understand the roles of AI in psychiatry and further explore whether AI is a friend or a foe. If you are opposed to AI, in favor of AI or just clueless concerning AI, this conference is for you. Join us\u00a0on March 14-15, 2025,\u00a0at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will be featuring several of our renowned local psychiatrists from Roanoke, Virginia along with our keynote speaker, Dr. Jon Luo, MD from the University of California, Irvine.\u00a0 Meet local exhibitors. Participate in the panel discussion. Attend the members in training games. Network with professionals and peers from all areas of Virginia. Whatever your reason for coming, rest assured, it is a good one.
