As you likely know, September is Women In Medicine month, and Dr. Njoku is part of a group called <a href=\"https:\/\/news.psva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Members-in-the-News-Silver-RE-Njoku-Women-In-Academia-Valuing-Equity-WAVE_FINAL.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Women In Academia Valuing Equity<\/a> (WAVE). As part of WAVE\u2019s efforts to support women in medicine and science, we are participating in a national campaign called the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/news.psva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Members-in-the-News-Silver-RE-Njoku-GiveHerAReasonToStay-Infographic_FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Give Her A Reason To Stay In Healthcare<\/a>\u201d campaign. Part of this campaign involves amplifying the terrific work of women in medicine and science, which is why I am writing to you about my colleague.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Since Dr. Njoku is a psychiatry resident, I wanted to reach out and share an update with you about her accomplishments. Ihuoma Njoku&#8217;s most recent accomplishments include the Leonard Tow Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award, serving as a Leadership Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, multiple local as well as national research awards, and multiple publications with topics including the neuroscience, COVID-19 pandemic, and the physician workforce. In addition, Dr. Njoku serves the community of Charlottesville by volunteering with the Charlottesville Free Clinic to those who have limited access to psychiatry.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Below are links for two recent articles in\u00a0<em>Forbes<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Becker\u2019s Hospital Review<\/em>\u00a0that discuss the campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Thank you for considering my request to amplify the wonderful work of my colleague, Dr. Njoku, in the Psychiatric Society of Virginia Newsletter.
