{"id":3670,"date":"2026-06-08T19:16:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T19:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.psva.org\/?p=3670"},"modified":"2026-06-08T19:17:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T19:17:09","slug":"survey-examining-patient-use-of-general-purpose-ai-chatbots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.psva.org\/?p=3670","title":{"rendered":"Survey Examining Patient Use of General-purpose AI chatbots"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dear members of the Psychiatry Society of Virginia,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are inviting licensed mental health providers to participate in a research study examining clinician observations of patient use of general-purpose AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Claude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the Study<\/strong><br>This study is designed to investigate the frequency and nature of patient-AI chatbot interactions as observed by mental health providers. Findings will be used to inform clinical guidance, provider education, and safety recommendations for AI chatbot use in vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What Participation Involves<\/strong><br>Participation consists of a single anonymous online survey taking approximately 5 minutes. The survey asks about your professional background and your observations of how patients in your care have used AI chatbots.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Survey Link:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jh.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_9WBHdkPc7oTdlae?source=psychiatry_VA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/jh.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_9WBHdkPc7oTdlae?source=psychiatry_VA<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important Notes<\/strong><br>Participation is entirely voluntary and you may opt out at any time. Survey responses are collected without any required identifying information and cannot be linked back to you. Choosing not to participate will have no impact on your professional standing.
