{"id":674,"date":"2022-04-29T18:54:16","date_gmt":"2022-04-29T18:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.psva.org\/?p=674"},"modified":"2022-04-29T18:57:12","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T18:57:12","slug":"virginia-tech-carilion-clinic-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.psva.org\/?p=674","title":{"rendered":"Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Kishore Nagaraja, MD<\/strong><br><em>PGY-3<br>Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The residency program would like to congratulate their PGY-4s on upcoming graduation and their future positions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Administrative Chief Resident Kristen Bubel will be joining Prisma Health in Greenville, SC as an Inpatient Psychiatrist and ECT practitioner.<\/li><li>Academic Chief Resident Timothy Adegoke will be continuing training with a Consult Liaison fellowship at Vanderbilt University.<\/li><li>Ehsan Samarbafzadeh will be joining faculty at Carilion Clinic as an Outpatient Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor.<\/li><li>Andrew Lee will be continuing training at Medical University of South Carolina for Addiction Psychiatry.<\/li><li>Hajra Ahmed will be joining Carilion Clinic as an Emergency Department Psychiatrist.<\/li><li>Chukwudi Okafor is currently considering several opportunities but remains undecided.<\/li><li>Shuo Qiu is also currently considering several opportunities and is undecided.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PGY-3s Michael Ferguson and Kishore Nagaraja will be matriculating into the Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Archana Adhikey will be matriculating into the Child and Adolescent&nbsp;Fellowship at the University of Arkansas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Events<\/strong><br>Dr. Aysegul Aydogan and Dr. Sulaimon Bakre were warmly received as hosts and participants in a &#8220;Ramadan Reflections&#8221; Iftar event hosted at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Fellowship where they discussed working, studying, and taking care of patients during a month of fasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Conferences<\/strong><br>2022 APA Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Badr Ratnakaran, an APA Fellow, will be making the following presentations at the APA Conference:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Workshop&#8211;Tug-of-War:&nbsp; Facing conflict as Underrepresented Trainee Leaders in Psychiatry<\/em><\/li><li><em>General Session&#8211;Psychopharmacological Challenges, Ethical Dilemmas, and Concerns of Health Care Workers:&nbsp; Lessons in Geriatric Psychiatry During the COVID-19 Pandemic<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Dr. Michael Ferguson will be making a research poster presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Publications<\/strong><br>Dr. Mounica Thootkur\u00a0had a manuscript accepted for publication along with attending Dr. Abhishek Reddy in Behavioral Sciences Journal entitled: &#8220;Does Insomnia Increase the Risk of Suicide in Hospitalized Patients with Major Depressive Disorder?
