UVA Medical School Update

The past year has been a busy and exciting time for the UVA Psychiatry program. This year, we were happy to welcome Dr. Keri Stevenson back to UVA. She will be continuing to build our perinatal psychiatry program as well as the Forensics fellowship, while also serving as an Assistant Program Director. Other members of our program leadership team include former Associate Program Director Dr. Anne Louise Stewart, who has stepped into the role of Program Director, alongside Associate Program Director Dr. Hema Kher and Assistant Program Director Dr. Katherine Wu.

Our residents have continued to be involved with diverse academic opportunities, with many presenting research posters at the APA’s 2026 Annual Meeting in San Francisco. In addition to academic pursuits, our residents have engaged in healthcare advocacy, recently meeting with Virginia State Senator Creigh Deeds to discuss the current political landscape and advocate for our patients.

Our recently graduated PGY-4s (and three PGY-3s who fast-tracked into child and adolescent psychiatry) are moving on to do great things:

  • Dr. Funmi Akinlade: Women’s Mental Health Fellow at McLean Hospital / Harvard Medical School
  • Dr. David Chung: Addiction Medicine Fellow at UVA
  • Dr. Christina de Fontnouvelle: Consultation-Liaison Fellow (Psycho-Oncology Track) at Brigham & Women’s Hospital
  • Dr. Amir Jabr: Addiction Psychiatry Fellow at Yale
  • Dr. McKenzie Klein: Telemedicine
  • Dr. Anand Saripalli: Outpatient Private Practice
  • Dr. Alex Wermeling: Consultation-Liaison Fellow at UNC
  • Dr. Kyle Willett: Private Practice in Charlottesville
  • Dr. Winnie Wu: Outpatient Private Practice
  • Dr. Felix Li: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at UVA
  • Dr. Juliette Silverman: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at MUSC
  • Dr. Yixue “Lily” Wang: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at Northwestern

We are so proud of them as they move forward in their careers!

In July, we welcomed 11 new interns to our program. The UVA Psychiatry class of 2030 includes Drs. Ayushi Charuvedi, Prasanth Ciryam, Ale Corvalan, Brian Felter, Hailie Hamilton, Noah Lee, Antonio Menezes, Karen Qi, Kavya Tangella, Blair Towers, and Maanvi Vij.

We are looking forward to a great 2026–2027 academic year!
