I am pleased to provide a recap of the APA Annual Meeting 2022. There were several PSV members in attendance, including several faculty members and trainees (and alumni!) from UVA. The meeting was not as crowded as in previous years, but I believe about 7000 people attended at the New Orleans Convention Center. One of the highlights of the meeting was standing on stage with two other PSV members for the 66th Convocation of Distinguished Fellows. Both Robert Findling and Rebecca Barchas were honored as Distinguished Life Fellows, while I was recognized as a Distinguished Fellow. I have to again thank my PSV colleagues for the nomination and willingness to write letters on my behalf. Other PSV members that were recognized as part of the Convocation, but not present at the APA, were Karl Northwall and Alexandru Trutia.
Other highlights from the meeting include seeing so many of our UVA residents present posters throughout the meeting. I don’t have a list of all the posters presented by our current residents and faculty, but it is impressive. Several of our PGY-3s presented posters in-person and did a wonderful job sharing details of their posters with those in attendance. We also were fortunate to have our annual UVA Alumni reception for the first time since the pandemic. We were joined by faculty, trainees, and UVA alumni from all over the country to celebrate and catch up over food and drinks in the French Quarter.
I attended several excellent presentations while at the meeting and am glad I was able to attend in-person this year. And, due to flight delays and missing my connection back to Charlottesville, I was able to stay another night in New Orleans and enjoy more of the city. I look forward to catching up with PSV members next year in San Francisco.
