Dr. Johanna “Sally” A. Hoffman Sciortino, retired psychiatrist, died in August 2024 in Richmond, Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Carl H. Sciortino, who died three months earlier. Sally graduated from Rutgers Medical School in 1960, completed her residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, and trained in psychoanalysis at the William Alanson White Institute.
She was Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, and for many years was director of Ambulatory Services Clinic, and on the full-time faculty at the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University. She and Carl loved to travel and saw almost every continent. In the late 1980’s they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, but returned to Richmond after her retirement.
She volunteered at Mental Health America of Virginia and sang in the choir at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richmond, Virginia, where she and Carl are interred in the Columbarium and Consolation Garden.
