As we approach a new year, LewisGale will be graduating seven general psychiatrists and sending two residents to child and adolescent fellowship. We are excited to announce that one of our graduating seniors, Dr. Bosco Theodore, will be joining us as a faculty member this upcoming year on the inpatient unit. While our senior class will be greatly missed, we are looking forward to welcoming a new class of interns. Composed of a diverse cohort, our nine up-and-coming interns come from all over the United States. Our new interns will be Lewis Gale’s 8th class of psychiatry residents. We are excited to welcome them to our team!
This year has brought many new celebrations and achievements to LewisGale. Two of our residents recently returned from the American Psychiatric Association Conference in Los Angeles, California with the theme being: Lifestyles for Positive Mental and Physical Health. At the APA, one of our residents presented on the proactive role of consultation liaison psychiatry utilizing scoping reviews and served to co-moderate several APA sessions. On May 27, 2025, we hosted our third annual Mental Health Walk. Approximately 150 people participated to spread awareness of struggles faced by those suffering from mental illness.
Our team members continue to take a lead role in the mental health field. One of our team members, Dr. Janie Lozovski, was recently voted as the President Elect for the Psychiatric Society of Virginia. Not only was she in the first graduating class at LewisGale, Dr. Lozovski returned to LewisGale as faculty and was promoted to the associate program director. As associate program director, Dr. Lozovski serves an instrumental role in the day-to-day activities of our residency program and continues to show a commitment to psychiatric education. We are grateful to have her on the team and very proud of her continuous work and dedication to the field.
