The Spring 2026 Meeting of the Psychiatric Society of Virginia was held April 10–11 at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia. We were pleased to be joined on Friday evening by Dr. Mark Downey, Delegate for Virginia’s 69th District. On Friday, we presented Dr. Anita Clayton and Dr. Jason Burton with Presidential Commendation Awards for their commitment to the mission of PSV. On Saturday, Dr. James Levenson was honored with the Society’s Career Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions.
This year’s scientific session marked a departure from our traditional format, centering instead on case-based presentations. These sessions sparked thoughtful discussion, collaboration, and the exchange of diverse perspectives. I am grateful to everyone who embraced this new approach and contributed to such a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
This spring, I was presented with a professional opportunity I could not decline. As a result, I will be relocating to North Carolina and am unable to complete my anticipated term as President. For the 2026-2027 term, Dr. Shariff Tanious has been installed as President, and Dr. Jason Burton will serve as President-Elect. It is a privilege to pass these roles to these excellent leaders.
I am deeply appreciative of the connections, mentorship, and insights I have gained through my involvement with the Society over the years. It has been a privilege to be part of this community, and I will sincerely miss working alongside such a dedicated group of colleagues.
