The mission of the PSV Foundation is to advance science and education for members of the Psychiatric Society of Virginia (PSV). The Foundation fulfills this mission by supporting educational and research initiatives for medical students, residents, and fellows.
Historically, the Foundation has provided consistent support for the annual poster sessions. In 2025, the PSV Foundation awarded $2,000 in poster session prizes at the Fall Meeting, along with $775 in travel stipends to assist trainees presenting posters who traveled from outside the Richmond area. In 2026, the Foundation will continue this commitment by providing funding for both awards and travel support.
In addition, the Foundation plans to expand its outreach efforts by hosting community seminars and workshops aimed at increasing awareness of critical mental health issues, including suicide and depression.
All contributions to the PSV Foundation directly support trainee education and engagement. Funds raised will be used to offset travel expenses for the 2026 Fall Meeting and to support new initiatives, including a trainee networking event designed to foster collaboration and camaraderie across training programs. The Foundation also seeks to encourage trainees to remain in the Commonwealth, particularly in light of ongoing physician shortages and the retirement of many senior psychiatrists.
To date, the Foundation has received $200 in contributions for 2026.
The PSV Foundation is a tax-exempt organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. To contribute, please click here or mail your donation (payable to PSV Foundation) to:
