With the announcement of the Covid-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) coming to an end on May 11, 2023, APA is looking to share resources and practice updates with APA members.
The end of the PHE will bring changes to the delivery of psychiatric care for many. The most recent APA telepsychiatry blog shares resources that have been developed to answer the many questions that have come to APA over the past few months. There’s time to prepare for some noted changes, such as the requirement under the Ryan Haight Act for an in-person visit in order to prescribe controlled substances and the requirement for a prescriber to have a Drug Enforcement Administration license in any state in which they are prescribing controlled substances.
The end of the PHE will bring some uncertainty to members. We are continuously advocating for changes that will improve the practice of psychiatry. As additional federal clarifications or changes are made, APA will be in touch to share as important information is available. In the meantime, please reach out with any questions you have to Brooke Trainum [email protected].
