Carilion Clinic-Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine

The fall is beautiful in Southwest Virginia and our department continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our community.

Department news
The entire Carilion Outpatient Behavioral Medicine will be migrating to new offices at Tanglewood Mall next to Carilion Children’s Center by Fall of 2023.  The current building known as Rehab will be undergoing staggered breakdown and renovation to be repurposed as part of the hospital campus’ ongoing development.

Dr. Katherine Liebesny has officially transitioned to the position of Program Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. This was a planned multi-year transition by outgoing Program Director Dr. Felicity Adams. The department appreciates all the hard work and dedication Dr. Adams has put into developing the fellowship and producing incredible CAP fellows.

A note to future applicants – please reach out to the fellowship regarding your interest in the program!

We would like to welcome and announce:

  • Dr. Margaret Rukstalis as director of Addiction Psychiatry.
  • Dr. Keri Stevenson as Ambulatory Psychiatry

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program is proud to announce its incoming class for 2023; Dr. Ryan Ritch and Dr. Trishna Sharma.

Please look out for Dr. Badr Ratnakaran’s upcoming special Geriatric Psychiatry theme of AMA Journal of Ethics. Dr. Badr Ratnakaran is serving as an Editorial Fellow of AMA Journal of Ethics.
