The American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training (ADDPRT) recently convened its annual meeting in San Francisco from March 4th to 8th. Attendees had the pleasure of experiencing the vibrant city. I had the chance to enjoy sourdough bread while observing the sea lions – it’s hard to get more quintessential San Francisco than that.
The meeting itself centered on the theme Magpadayon! Leading and Educating Amidst Change, with “Magpadayon” being a Filipino term meaning “to forge ahead.” This timely event provided leaders in psychiatric residency training with a valuable opportunity to learn about and discuss the evolving landscape of medical education, including shifting regulatory environments and the rapidly accelerating pace of technology in recent years.
The ADDPRT meeting equipped attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate this ever-changing landscape of medical education through a program that included lectures, workshops, networking opportunities, and peer collaboration. Many Virginia programs were represented at this annual meeting. With the support of excellent organizations such as ADDPRT, the future of psychiatry training in Virginia is well-positioned to thrive amidst the ongoing evolution of medical education.
