UVA Medical School Update

By Jeong Hoo (Eric) Lee, MD
PGY-4, Chief Resident
University of Virginia
APA Assembly Area 5 Resident-Fellow Member Representative

We are very excited to be attending the upcoming American Psychiatric Association (APA) Annual Conference in May in-person! Most of our third and fourth year residents will be heading to New Orleans to network, learn, and present some of our works as well.

It is that time of the year where we bid adieu to our fourth year residents and fellows. We are very proud and excited to announce the glazing match results our residents and fellows achieved.

  • Dr. Jason Pickett will be staying at UVA to pursue his forensic psychiatry fellowship.
  • Dr. Joan Winter will be heading to University of Colorado to complete child fellowship.
  • Dr. Jeong Hoo (Eric) Lee will be completing consult-liaison fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
  • Dr. Bo Hu will be doing consult-liaison fellowship at UCLA.
  • Dr. Daniel Higgins will be an assistant professor at Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
  • Dr. Shiloh Cousins will be doing outpatient psychiatry for VA near Fredericksburg, Virginia.
  • Dr. Kim Curtis will be working for a telemedicine company.
  • Dr. Katie Murray will be doing outpatient psychiatry in Montana.
  • Drs. Elaine Duffee and Dillon Kayser will be joining an outpatient psychiatry practice in Charlottesville, VA.

Our child fellow, Dr. Thomas Ball, will be working in an outpatient clinic for MindPath Health in Austin, Texas.

For our geriatric fellows, Dr. Jayne Shadlyn will be doing general adult outpatient psychiatry in Newport, RI, and Dr. Kelsey Johnson will be heading to Eastern Virginia Medical School to do both inpatient and outpatient work.

We would also like to welcome our new interns for this academic year: Dr. Soonhong (Brendon) Choi, Dr. David Chung, Dr. Christina de Fontnouvelle, Dr. Sonia Diaz, Dr. Amir Jabr, Dr. Elizabeth (McKenzie) Klein, Dr. Anand Saripalli, Dr. Alexander Wermeling, Dr. Winnie Wu, Dr. Matthew Zelig. We are very excited and confident that they will shine at UVA!
