The residency program would like to congratulate their PGY-4s on upcoming graduation and their future positions:
- Administrative Chief Resident Kristen Bubel will be joining Prisma Health in Greenville, SC as an Inpatient Psychiatrist and ECT practitioner.
- Academic Chief Resident Timothy Adegoke will be continuing training with a Consult Liaison fellowship at Vanderbilt University.
- Ehsan Samarbafzadeh will be joining faculty at Carilion Clinic as an Outpatient Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor.
- Andrew Lee will be continuing training at Medical University of South Carolina for Addiction Psychiatry.
- Hajra Ahmed will be joining Carilion Clinic as an Emergency Department Psychiatrist.
- Chukwudi Okafor is currently considering several opportunities but remains undecided.
- Shuo Qiu is also currently considering several opportunities and is undecided.

Archana Adhikey will be matriculating into the Child and Adolescent Fellowship at the University of Arkansas
Events
Dr. Aysegul Aydogan and Dr. Sulaimon Bakre were warmly received as hosts and participants in a “Ramadan Reflections” Iftar event hosted at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Fellowship where they discussed working, studying, and taking care of patients during a month of fasting.

2022 APA Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA
Dr. Badr Ratnakaran, an APA Fellow, will be making the following presentations at the APA Conference:
- Workshop–Tug-of-War: Facing conflict as Underrepresented Trainee Leaders in Psychiatry
- General Session–Psychopharmacological Challenges, Ethical Dilemmas, and Concerns of Health Care Workers: Lessons in Geriatric Psychiatry During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Dr. Michael Ferguson will be making a research poster presentation.
Publications
Dr. Mounica Thootkur had a manuscript accepted for publication along with attending Dr. Abhishek Reddy in Behavioral Sciences Journal entitled: “Does Insomnia Increase the Risk of Suicide in Hospitalized Patients with Major Depressive Disorder? A Nationwide Inpatient Analysis from 2006-2015”.
Dr. Badr Ratnakaran is currently serving as an Editorial fellow for the AMA Journal of Ethics and curating an upcoming special theme issues on Geriatric Psychiatry.
