Dear Members of the Psychiatric Society of Virginia,
As we conclude the year on a high note, I want to thank all members, medical students, and trainees for actively participating in the 2024 Fall Meeting of the PSV. Your involvement has made this meeting one of the most successful in the history of PSV. The 2024 Fall Meeting was particularly unique. For the first time, we collaborated with the Virginia Council for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to provide a separate track of sessions on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. We achieved a record attendance of more than 160 registrants, including nearly 80 medical students and trainees. We also had a record number of 46 posters for the event. Dr. Vishaal Madaan delivered the Keynote Speech on Precision Education and Lifelong Learning. The 2024 PSV Career Award was presented to Dr. William Harp, Executive Director of the Virginia Board of Medicine. The 2024 PSV Legislator of the Year Award was presented to Senator Ghazala Hashmi. Miss Sheyna Nathwani and Dr. Anand Saripalli were the proud winners of the best poster award in the medical student and resident/fellow category respectively.
I also request members to contribute to the PSV Foundation and PSV Psych MD PAC to continue PSV’s efforts to support its initiative and legislative efforts. Our 2025 PSV Spring Meeting will be held in Roanoke, Virginia on March 14-15, 2025. The theme of the meeting will be Artificial Intelligence in Psychiatry. Please join the meeting and support medical students and trainees in attending the conference, as the theme is essential for the future of our field.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hannukah, and a Happy New Year. I look forward to seeing you in Roanoke in the Spring of next year.
